Gertrude AKA Ladyg who left Haiti at 13, is not a newcomer to the stage. Having majored in Musical Theatre in College, and after having performed in numerous plays, she veered towards music in the late 90's. Gertrude performed with multiple bands until 2002. However, by 2003, after realizing she would not reach her potential as a backup singer. Gertrude started writing songs for what would become a demo. However, once the songwriter started writing beautiful melodies and lyrics, she couldn't stop. Instead of a demo, she ended up putting down 7 tracks for a debut CD, that's when Gertrude came out of her shell and emerged as Ladyg. Ladyg's sound is completely different from anyone in the CMI (Caribbean Music Industry). G can sound Jazzy, Hip and sassy at the same time. Ladyg says she's learned a lot from doing this CD. She also adds, " there's been a lot of frustrations throughout this process, it's good to know my perseverance has paid off". Ladyg, who since the release of the debut CD titled "M'enrage", has been making the rounds promoting her CD by performing a lot of Major events in Caribbeans. Ladyg is one the first female singers who not only uses a headset, but also manages to dance and sing simultaneously. Everywhere Ladyg' has performed, she's vowed audiences with her sassiness, dance moves and over all presentation. This is what she had to say in a recent interview, " I was a dancer before I started singing and I wanted to incorporate dance in my performances, I also wanted to do something that hasn't been done before". Ladyg's first single and video " Konsa", can be heard and seen on most Haitian/Caribbean websites. It took Ladyg 31/2 years to finish this project. Now, after all the all the obstacles, this singer has come on her own, and will likely become the next big thing.
