Saxophonist Lance Koonah straddles the boundary between mainstream tradition and more contemporary fusion. His music never sacrifices melody over cerebral thought and contains many influences from Joshua Redman to David Sanborn. He has performed with greats such as Joe Lovano, Steve Turre, Robin Eubanks, and Cameron Brown. Lance started playing the saxophone many years ago in his home state of Hawaii. That pursuit lead him to the famed Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he crafted and honed his skills on the saxophone. He has led Lance Koonah Innerworkings for the last two years and performs in and around New York City.
