Takin the Longview
The completion of 'Takin' the Longview,' Linsey Furry's disc of pop/piano/classical stylings, marks a high point in her years as a professional musician. The Greater Kalamazoo [MI] Arts Council has recognized this achievement by awarding her the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation Emerging Artist Grant. Linsey has been involved in performing and teaching music for most of her life. During her early college years at Ball State University, the Indiana native was pianist and arranger for the University Singers, and toured Army bases at home and abroad with the group as USO representatives. At Shanty Creek/ Schuss Mountain in Northern Michigan, now known as Shanty Creek Resorts, she was entertainment director, arranging instrumentals and vocals. Following those years she toured IN, MI and FL with well-respected groups. After the completion of her music education degree at Western Michigan University, she taught music in elementary schools, and taught at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She now has many private piano students. Linsey has never lost sight of the dream of recording her original compositions. You like piano instrumental music? She plays it. Want superb vocals added? Got it! Linsey's depth and breadth of experience has enabled her to write and perform many styles equally effectively. She has something for every listener. After the years of working day to day as a musician and teacher, Linsey Furry decided to 'take the long view' and really make a go of it as a composer. Take a listen; you're sure to find something you enjoy! .
