Fresh from the underworld of overdeveloped cul-de-sac sprawl between Baltimore and D.C comes...The Longfellow Project - a young post-modern hip-hop duo that's not exactly sure what post-modern means but doesn't need to look it up on Wikipedia. It just sounds right. If the shoe fits, kick it. Breathalyzer readings show heavy influence from hip-hop staples like A Tribe Called Quest and Beastie Boys but also prog-rockers like Goblin, Todd Rundgren and The Mars Volta. Sounding like two post-apocalyptic survivalists sifting through the rubble of today's pop music on a mission to reconstruct the classic hip-hop that's been stuck in their heads ever since middle school - the rhymes flow freely like AIG bonuses. Throw in a few helpings of video games, horror movies, and Saturday morning cartoon characters and you might start to get the picture. But don't stare, you might miss a verse. Formed in 2008 and currently based in Baltimore - the collaboration of Beyond Z and Dylan K has so far resulted in one self-produced full length album - with plenty more in the works. Beyond Z has released dozens of tracks since 2006 fusing archetypal emceeing over dusty samples and synth textured electro-beats, recently dropping a solo album 'The Black Hole'. Dylan K joined forces with a shared vision for taking their love of hip-hop storytelling and dense soundscapes out of the basement and into hands-in-the-air live performances. The Longfellow Project's 15 track self-titled debut is available now. They plan to drop their second album 'Rise of the Octopus' in Fall 2009.
