From the creation of time, music has always been a universal language and a powerful force. The music of Lonnie Youngblood has, and will always continue to touch people throughout the world. It's a pretty safe bet that somewhere along the way, you've heard the music of this legendary saxman, vocalist and bandleader. He has performed in every major entertainment venue throughout the world. Lonnie Youngblood was born in Augusta, Georgia. He began his musical career at the young age of 8, and in his teens he demonstrated his band leadership capabilities. Lonnie played in clubs throughout Georgia, where he became a forceful factor in the music industry. Because of his unique style, his talents stood out where people took notice. At the early age of 18, he left his home in Georgia and headed north to Newark, New Jersey to join The Pearl Reeves Organ Trio. In the early 60's, Lonnie had embarked on a rich musical life, which included a featured act with his own group that afforded him to become an accomplished bandleader. He also inspired and supported some of the biggest names of Rhythm and Blues including; James Brown, Sam and Dave, Baby Washington, Buster Brown, Ben E. King, Chuck Jackson, Joe Tex, Jackie Wilson, The Moments a.k.a. Ray, Goodman and Brown, Joe Simmon, and many more. During the 60's he hired an unknown guitarist named Jimmy James, who later became a legendary artist known to the world as Jimi Hendrix. Lonnie Youngblood, known as 'The Prince of Harlem' was inspired by the memory of his mother to do an Inspirational Gospel CD, that reflects his spiritual up bringing and allowing others to share his music and know that the prayers of a loving mother will see you through the tough times. With his newly released CD entitled 'In The Garden', which is a collection of traditional gospel classics dedicated to the memory of his loving mother, Lonnie conveys true spiritual feelings with his saxophone. 'In The Garden', brings back sweet memories to Lonnie as he eloquently expresses the memories he so dearly cherishes of his mother. In this rendition, he testifies of the love and guidance that was instilled in him during his upbringing. These Songs 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus', 'Amazing Grace'' and 'Precious Lord' along with many other great gospel standards will enhance the atmosphere of any place Lonnie plays, whether he is performing on Television or Radio.
