What Could Have Been
Check Out Lookout Point July 25th as part of the Vans Warped Tour! "Hollow lyrics [are] keeping young ones calm. The old ones [are] spent from buying in too long. The greedy and needy outnumber the strong. It's far too late for more sleep." These are the lyrics to the Lookout Point song, "Media Queen", that can be heard on their debut album "What Could Have Been". They're tired of buying in and too underpowered to change anything, but they'll keep scratching and clawing at the industry's door for the pure sake of not becoming what they hate. This passion has always been in the hearts of Andrew Goforth and Dustin Ward who started the band in York, PA in 2003. Angered by society they started a band with some high school friends to express these emotions. They started creating music that emanated from the bands they loved while growing up in the 90's and combined it with the crazy free form rock that exists today. They keep clear melodies on top of hard pounding rhythms while mixing it up with time changes and breakdowns. In the end it's all tied together with powerful, catchy choruses. In a couple of years they managed to record some tracks with local producer Jason Rubal. This recording gave them the desire to become as serious about this band as possible. They started weeding out the high school friends and searched for serious musicians. Pete Baker joined the band as an accomplished local bassist and immediately started improving their sound. They quickly decided to record two more tracks with Dave Weiner, the guitarist for the Steve Vai Band. The three decided this was going to be more than just something they used to blow off steam. The band--members, sound, and dedication--was set in stone in November of 2005. Since then they built their own studio, recorded 6 more tracks to combine with their previous six, and made their debut album "What Could Have Been." They played in some of the best venues in their area including Recher Theatre in Towson, Maryland. They had radio appearances on Shippensburg radio 88.7 FM and two in Baltimore Maryland: 98 Rock on the Mickey and Amelia show and WHFS 105.7 free FM. They search for themselves through self-probing lyrics and well thought-out music. In the end, Andrew, Dustin, and Pete rock hard and love what they do. They strive for originality, at least in their own eyes; they've never written anything to a formula and only write what they feel is real and easy to relate to. They put on an entertaining show and know how to please an audience. What more could any one person want out of life? Finally, they are here; will you be able to wipe the steam from the window and enjoy the Lookout Point?
