Lua Description-- There is a deep 'seeded' revolution going on-- each day as the world turns, countries become states, states become towns and towns become neighborhoods... technology brings the world in all it's beauty and rawness to our door step and it's in the evolution of our global music that Lua finds it's place. Lua does not claim to be of a specific tradition, though it is inspired by a blend of North American, Latin American and African influences; it is a unique sound that calls deeply to the human spirit for oneness. So if you choose to label us, that is what we would like for you to do. Our music is your music, so whatever it brings to you, let it be -- Nueva cancion, Cumbia jazz, Latin folk, Reggae, Luscious new world Soul --- be our guest. We would like to start a new label, a 'U-label,' because how can we label each individual's experience? How can we or anyone else for that matter label how you interpret the landscape of our dreams? Estela Bio: Her first experiences with music she describes as 'being touched by a force of nature. Even when I was a child I knew that I was a conduit for something much greater than myself, something that connects us all, that breaks through any tangible border or barrier that we as humans create.' When she sings you can hear that in her voice, The sounds of nature and the deepest parts of humanity seep through her sultry, soulful voice. She is the siren that calls you deeper into yourself, into those places where you can no longer hide. "Every sound that comes through me is not of me but is of the experiences that I have with this world community that I love-- it is their story that is my story. It is hard to see myself as a citizen of a particular country or place. I consider myself a citizen of the world and in the world I conduct myself as such.' Music is the voice of the people-- I want to inspire our world community to put down anger and sing-- for it is in each other that we find the deepest parts of God. My soul steps forward with great intention and inspiration to sing the song of my world. No more will I be silenced by my own fears'. Her songs are strong and deep. In her music, she can rip your heart right open with one phrase and in another have you flying through the canopies of heaven. Some of her songs are silly and super danceable and others are thought provoking and hard to pin down. 'I want my audiences to walk away feeling fed. I long to inspire community and connectedness. I want to reflect humanity's hunger for peace and a more unified world. I want us to find ways to shape our existence together, one note at a time.' Dave Bio: Dave is a highly accomplished bassist, composer and teacher, whose recording and performance credits include a broad spectrum of styles, from west African traditional music to jazz, funk, acoustic folk and various types of Latin and Caribbean popular music. He has often been inspired by the sensual movements of dancers throughout the world. 'I have always enjoyed composing dance music, but have never really gravitated towards any one specific style. It is my intention to write music that will inspire people to dance out the mythology of their dreamscape, wherever that leads.' Dave writes from a visionary place of poetic beauty. In his songs are images of the dreamer transforming the world through feats of imagination. 'Accepting the world as it is has never been one of my strong suits. When faced with a situation, whether an artistic dilemma or a real world problem, I can usually bend reality a bit to accommodate my intention. And if reality won't budge, I can always fall back on my imagination and my attitude towards the world, to shape things through song into spaces of great beauty. It is not enough to comment on the ugliness and cruelty in the world, nor to bicker with the perpetrators. We have to actually do things that make life more wonderful. And, you know, if that doesn't work, we can always write a song that expresses the beauty of what the world could become, and then at least we have some vision to nudge into being.'
