Testimony is not a song title but a theme of this album and an account, expression and declaration of what the Lord has done in me and for me. I declare what he did through a collection of my songs in this first music album. I believe that if you persevere, he can do what he has done for me for you as well. I wrote my first song in May 1988 at Kwelera Primary School (a village outside East London, South Africa) when two of my classmates were fighting. I have never stopped writing songs since then. My first songs were both religious and political based on what was happening around me at the time. When I became a born-again Christian on 25 January 1992 I was faced with a new challenge of changing my political songs to spiritual and replacing some of my religious songs' lyrics with more sensible ones. This was not an easy task at all so much that I ended up throwing away the majority of the songs I could not change. I always wished that someone would discover me and enhance my music talent but that never happened but instead my poetry talent was discovered. In 1998 a visitor to my church got impressed by my poetry performance and he vowed to make it his mission to have my poetry recorded. And within few weeks a successful launch followed. When I launched this album I was still a university student and because of this I could not do an effective promotion of it. Since then I have never released anything else and this is my first music album. In September 2005 I formed a music label by the name Brother Lungisa Music Productions with a vision of producing my own original gospel music. I had hoped that I would form a company only after I had gained some experience through working with the major labels but that never took place. Circumstances forced me to discover myself as an artist and do my own thing my own way. If the other people cannot see what I have, I know what I have and how powerful it is. Before and after I formed the company I sent demos of my songs to a number of recognized music institutions and personalities but unfortunately that did not bring any good results. The only results I received were disappointments and headaches. I would like the music industry to know that I have arrived and I am not passing but I am here to establish myself as a fully-fledged artist. This album is an introduction and a gate-opener for many more blessing albums that are still to come. For me music is not only a business but also a call and ministry. I have a mission to bring you original inspiring songs in each and every album produced and released by my company. I am not going to ask you to buy my music but instead my music will encourage you to buy it. When it does that, obey and buy an original copy rather than a pirated one. When you buy my music a portion of that amount will go towards the education of a bible school student. I would like to dedicate this album to the memory of my late mother Nomfazi Mirriam Magagu who passed on when I was in the first phase of my recording. This lady was everything to me especially after my dad's untimely death. Though she had never entered through the school door she taught me the importance of school through a stick of course. She worked very hard earning very little so that we could have better life. For ten years we stayed in a shack that had a sewerage manhole right infront of the door. The manhole would give out all it's dirty ingredients during the festive season. The stench was far beyond your imagination. We had no choice but to tolerate it until she managed to get herself a government-sponsored house . I cannot forget the way she comforted me after I had been kicked out of a grade 11 class because I did not have school shoes. After I graduated I did not find a job immediately, she continued to support me. Unfortunately, she died a month before I got a full time job and she was not there to celebrate my success. Word of Thanks I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the gifts and making me a blessing to his body, my country and the world. My wife, Buli, for sacrificing family funds to make this dream a possibility . My church, New Covenant Community Church for allowing itself to be my field of practice. Davids of this Age, my backing group, for being there every time I needed them for practices, guys you have been a great blessingto me . Mr Clive Mamase, thanks for introducing me to the world through the poetry project, you deserve God's blessings. To the media, thanks for advertising and promoting my music. Your existence is a blessing in disguise, Keep up the good work.
