Lyn Cala is a prolific singer, pianist and songwriter who plays piano with the bold combination of rock infused with classical stylings. She is a strong pianist and vocalist with a unique style Lyn has composed and recorded several independent albums and has been called a 'female Billy Joel.' She has been compared to the likes of Carol King, Kate Bush, Laura Nyro and other female singer/songwriter piano players. Her biggest musical influence has been the Beatles. 'When I first heard the Beatles, I learned all of their songs because the melodies were so memorable and infectious. They are truly one of the main influences on my songwriting.' I also grew up playing a great deal of songs from musical composers like Cole Porter and Gershwin. Lyn has since received national and international airplay from Nashville to New Zealand, all over Europe and has hit the contemporary charts at number 5 on the Music Review. She had 2 Grammy-entry nominations for Best Solo Pop Female Vocal Performance in 2003 and 2005. She has shared the stage with mentors and greats such as Marvin Hamlisch and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joey Welz of Bill Haley and the Comets who describes her playing as being 'amazing while executed with the finess of a concert pianist and her writing above the norm and songs stronger than what is heard on contemporary radio.'
