Eyes Wide Open
Review ' Marcus Mosely ' One of Canada's top Gospel / Stage entertainers. Just finished listening to 'Eyes Wide Open.' The first thought that comes to mind is... 'I guess that I know the answer to the question 'I wonder what kind of music Lennon would be making if he were still alive?'' Pure classic Rock N Roll with passion, vision, anger and a seasoned measure of compassion. Music and lyric merge to paint vivid images that speak to our humanity; that question injustice and human loss. Then in the midst of the storm we are reminded of what is most important... Love Sweet Love. And at the end, the indomitabilty of the human spirit in the face of life's adversities is embodied in Carry On. I am proud to add this CD to my collection of, what I call, important music of my generation. Bio Information Eyes Wide Open is the new CD of original material from writing /producing duo John Knill and John Lynch. The duo has co-produced several CDs for other artists in recent years, working out of Knill's DreamMaker Studio, but is the first colaboration of their own music. John Lynch has been writing music since he picked up a guitar at age eleven. Early in his career John toured Britain and Ireland as one of the founding member of rockers The Weight. After The Weight disbanded, John and five other musicians formed the Irish rock band Killarney. They first toured in Europe and then Canada, where they stayed to appear as regulars on a TV music series The Jimmy Ferguson Show Featuring Killarney and then became one of the longest running and popular house bands of all time. While playing with the band John released several records and continued to write original material. 'Music' is and always has been a huge part of my life,' says Lynch. 'The songs on Eyes Wide Open are about events that have touched me in a personal way.' John Knill began his recording career in the seventies and landed an international distribution contract with Polydor Records. After charting several tunes in North America and having his material released world wide, John then turned to business management. He was never far from the keyboard and studio however, co founding the Canadian jazz fusion group 'Passage' in the nineties and releasing the original CD 'Dangerous Dance' . Since the early nineties John has been working full time in the studio producing, composing and engineering. 'Eyes Wide Open is a blending of my love of rock, classical and world music, ' says Knill.' It is great to make a CD that both our friends and kids can rock to.' Lynch and Knill met while co-producing a musical tribute show in 2001 and quickly realized that they shared the desire to bring their complementary musical roots and passion to the current scene and Eyes Wide Open is the first result.
