What sets Main Event apart from other hip hop artists? For starters, a natural gift to create a buzz combined with raw talent! Twenty-three year old Cody McGregor AKA Main Event launched his music career two years ago with his first concert and first ever public performance on the same stage graced by many well-known Canadian acts at the Orillia Opera House. One month later, he was the opening act for Juno award winning rap artist Choclair...and there was no turning back! A member of the Whitefish River First Nation on Manitoulin Island, Main Event is proud of his Ojibway/Mohawk heritage and felt a natural draw to the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA's). After attending an awards show he felt inspired to produce his own CD and made his dream come true with the release of 'Always Tomorrow'. Main Event has recieved a nomination for Best Male Artist '08 at the 10th annual CAMA's that were held on November 28, 2008 at the Roger's Centre in Toronto. Main Event is no stranger to the national scene. Last year he was a finalist in the National Bootlegger Generation B Competition to acknowledge dedicated youth doing what they love to do and making a difference in their community. The once timid, soft-spoken youth has matured into a full-bown musical powerhouse with an explosive stage presence but believes everyone has a unique gift to offer. 'Always Tomorrow' is a must have collection of catchy beats, thought provoking lyrics and also showcases local musicians Victor Horvath, Joey Zona and Akeem Romello to name a few. This CD is a testament to Cody's versatility as a hip hop artist, singer, songwriter and composer. ** Upcoming show Thursday, March 12th at Whitefish River Community Centre near Manitoulin Island as a part of a youth career forum. The show came and went with many success, so much that there will be an upcoming show at the end of June. (more details as they unfold) A second album is in the works and is anticipated to be released in the Summer of '09. Don't forget where you heard it first..
