I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with the help and unconditional love of my dear Grandmother Anna Goecke. When I was 13 my mother bought me my first guitar- a little red and white Tru-tone. At 14 I bought my first bass guitar from my guitar teacher, Lloyd Hazelbaker. A hollow body Winston, it was a copy of a Hoffner with strings about a half inch off the fret board. I joined a band, and a few years later my Dad bought my first decent bass guitar, a Gibson E.B.O. I later traded it for a Rickenbacker, and I have been playing ever since. Inspired by James Taylor, I wrote my first song when I was 18. Moved to Texas when I was 24 and played in various rock and country bands in Austin area. In 1994 I moved back to Cincinnati and played in a garage band. There I met my wife, Valerie, who has been a constant inspiration to me who sometimes 'drives me crazy, but always tells me the truth'. Together we rewrote the songs she sings on the CD because I love her voice and she interpreted the vocal just the way I wanted it to sound. The harmonica on 'My Babe' and 'Hello Nathan' was played by Rick Sutton. Ricky and I went to high school together and have been friends since we were sixteen. We used to sneak into concerts at Cincinnati Gardens and saw bands such as Grand Funk RR, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Santana, and others I can't remember. I think he is one of the best harmonica players in the country. I love him as a brother and want to thank him for his contribution to the CD. I wrote these songs on acoustic guitar and have been playing them for years. With the help of producer, Dan Henning, I finally got around to putting them down. Dan's musical talent and instincts are only exceeded by his goodness as a person on this planet. I am lucky to know him and want to thank him for his interpretation and hard work playing on and producing 'Old Fool'. I love him, too. Hope you enjoy our CD, thankyou.
