Take the Lead
Matt Craig's soulful and passionate voice resonates in the minds of listeners because his zeal for life, music, and people is evident in his charismatic stage presence. Matt grew up surrounded by a musical family, so his love for singing and music comes effortlessly. He grew up singing in a large church, where he participated in the youth and adult choirs, where he soon graduated to solo parts, and then solo specials during services. However, it wasn't until he graduated from high school that he decided to sharpen his talents and actively pursue his first love - music. In the spring of 2001 Matt connected with Michael O'Brien and a few other members of New Song, an award-winning Christian music group, and decided to record his first Album EP The Quest. The Release of Matt's first radio single Hope was a huge success, garnishing major radio time and eventually moving to number two on the KYCC Radio charts in California. The following two years Matt traveled with his band, and gained valuable experience being on the road, playing in open air concert venues, churches, coffee shops, and anywhere else that would give him the chance to hone his skills. Then life seemed to go a different direction. As love would have it, Matt married and became a daddy for the first time the next year. Though Matt was not actively engaged in his music career, he was still heavily involved in the music department of his local church. As a worship leader, Matt continued to create music and to impact the lives of others. In early 2006, Matt's father suffered from liver failure and nearly died. Through that rough time, Take the Lead, was first birthed in Matt. A year later Matt started recording his second album. With influences ranging from indie rock to modern worship, Take the Lead embodies Matt's heart for God and his love for music, thus capturing the attention of those who are within earshot of his voice.
