Matthew Paul Mendes, 30 years old, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but raised in a suburb called Attleboro. While attending college in the Boston area he learned how to freestyle and started rapping with friends for fun. Soon after, he started to enter open mic contests and won his first competition after only rapping for a short time. As time went on, this hobby was taken more seriously as he started to harness his skills. In the summer of 2002, Matthew Mendes recorded his first demo to prerecorded instrumentals at Blackbird Studios in Cromwell, Connecticut. In late 2003, he was introduced to Robert Tucker of TNT Productions & Hug Da Block Entertainment and is currently getting ready to release his debut album called Misunderstood. Mendes is also working with Illumina Records and Ground Control as one of 20 artist chosen to be apart of a compilation CD in the Boston area that will help push out a strong message against drunk driving. Matthew Mendes is an mc that focuses on artform and lyrical content within his rhymes. He has a little bit of an old school flava with a modern day flow. He has his own rap style, sounds like nobody else, and wants to be one of the artists who helps to bring the game back to where it once was: lyrical content and rhyme skills. Mendes is a hungry independent artist with drive, determination, and a work ethic that is nonstop. He is one that will go through any type of adversity to grow and take his career to the next level. He feels that with a strong mindset and work ethic there are no limitations to what one can achieve as long as he or she believes that all things are possible.
