Stretchin It Out
The best way to describe the Stretchin' It Out CD and me, would be to say that the music is definitely smooth jazz with adult taste. I describe this CD as being (smooth jazz with a touch of rhythm-n-groove). As for myself, I'm a composer/arranger from the Wisconsin area. I've been active in music and recording since the late sixties and have worked with, and had some memorable jam sessions with artist such as Mark Kleckley Big Band; Buddy Montgomery; Les McCann; Al Jarreau; Jr. & the Classics; 7-Sounds; and Luther Allison. I grew up listening to a variety of music, although my biggest influence came from two of my uncles who play jazz, and both are drummers. As a composer/arranger, I tend to lean toward strong rhythm sections in my recordings, that establish definite rhythms and grooves that make good listening, dancing, or just plain (groove-a-tational) pleasure. That's a word I just made up. Anyway, I like music that have both creative melodic, and good chordal structures along with a positive and rich sound that you hear from artist like Quincy Jones; Spyro Gyra; Luther Vandross; Earth Wind & Fire; GRP All-Star Big Band; Dave Grusin, etc. These are the types of artist who I listen to for (groove-a-tational) purposes. There's that word again. I thank God for allowing me to pursue my music career, and I pray that He will allow me to continue and prosper greatly and achieve longevity in the music business and in life. In the insert portion of this CD, is a special dedication to my family, and close friends for who I am truly thankful, and they were indeed pleasantly surprised when I told them they were being featured in the insert. There is also an interesting story about the cat on the front cover, but I won't spoil it by telling you the story on this page. All the songs on this CD are original and instrumental, although upcoming CD's will have featured vocalist and guest musicians. I do feel confident and optimistic in saying that I know that this is a CD you'll really enjoy.
