MICHAEL HAYNES Biography Michael Haynes was born and raised in the city of Chicago Illinois. His musical career began at the age of 14, when he entered the high-school band and played the Trombone. At the age of 15, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and joined his local church. He wanted to transition his musical talents with the Trombone from high school to the church. However, this was a difficult transition, because all of the music in the church was played by ear, and he only knew how to play the Trombone by reading sheet music. After listening to many gospel recordings, his interest was peeked toward playing the bass guitar. He loved how the bass guitar was the dominant instrument in most gospel songs. His untiring dedication towards learning to play the bass by ear helped him to learn rather quickly. Soon after learning to play the bass for his local church, he began to play for other local churches and gospel concerts, where he became a very well known bass guitarist in the City of Chicago for the past 23 years. His love for playing the bass grew beyond just playing gospel music, so he began to explore the world of jazz. Inspired by the music he heard on Chicago's jazz radio stations he thought that it would be a great experience to compose some music of his own and publish it. So, he assembled a group of four other local musicians in 1998 and co-produced a Christian Jazz CD, "Instrumental Praise", in 1999. After the release of Instrumental Praise, he decided to open his own recording studio in the basement of his home, Michael's Bass Mint Studios, (MBM). Later he decided to go solo and produce his second CD featuring smooth jazz compositions. This production "Michael Haynes, Ensight" was recorded entirely at MBM studios. The CD features original music composed by Michael and other various musicians and two instrumental remakes from well- known R&B artist for a variety of smooth jazz listeners.
