Kuncee Bungratcee Cheena
Hi! I'm Michael Lydon, a singer-songwriter in New York City's East Village. KUNCEE BUNGRATCEE CHEENA is my third CD. Most of the tracks are in the pop-jazz groove that I've been playing for years with my five piece band. "Midnight in Manhattan," "You and Me," "Such a Tender Touch"--these are classic songs with the feel of great American standards. "Love Will Take It's Own Sweet Time" has a funky Bo Diddley-style beat--I love 50s rock 'n' roll!. "Kuncee Bungratcee Cheena," on the other hand is something brand new for me: a comedy-inspirational rap song about an average Joe who meets a bunch of little green spacemen who teach him a chant--Kuncee bungratcee cheena--than can bring peace to our troubled planet. I bet you were wondering what that title meant! To tell you something about myself: I got into music by writing about music. In the 60s I was an early "rock writer" who helped found ROLLING STONE and interviewed John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, and many more. I also wrote RAY CHARLES: MAN AND MUSIC, the definitive biography of the Genius. With my partner, pianist composer Ellen Mandel, I've been living and playing in New York for years. Check out my website for more info: michaellydon.com. And please leave a comment in my guestbook--I love hearing from music-lovers! And please check out my other two CDs at CD Baby: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT and MIKE on MIKE. Thanks for stopping by!
