In the summer of 1965 I moved into the now infamous rooming house at 1090 Paige St. in the Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco, CA. This is where the early S.F. rock bands were forming. Such groups as the Charlatans, the Greatful Dead and Big Brother & The Holding Company, among others. I hooked up with Peter Albin, bass player and lead singer for Big Brother and we began writing songs. Janis Joplin would eventually sing these. Peter introduced me to Stephen Ehret, founder, guitarist and main songwriter for the legendary Wildflower. I wrote the lyrics for Wildflower songs with Stephen for the next few years. I also became a player; guitar, drums and harmonica and continued to play and write songs.. when I re-establihed my relationship with Stephen , he agreed to produce and record my album 'Glass Factory'. This CD accurately represents my songs and music. Spike Best And The Rest is me and my band.
