Back to Current River
The extensive and eclectic musical career of Michael McIntire, after forty-three years is still going strong. In addition to releasing five c.d.'s and publishing a book, he performs on a regular basis, playing a variety of music such as, rock, country, bluegrass, bebop, folk, etc., his favorite being electric blues. Michael has opened for such well known acts as Jimmy Van Zandt, and legendary blues guitarist Roy Bucannan, as well as sharing the stage with Bonnie Owens, (ex-wife of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard). He has also traded licks with members of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. In addition to shredding an electric guitar, he also plays piano, banjo, harp, and violin. It should be noted here that Michael is blind, thus the title of his book, 'Blind Man Running'. This book describes his life as a blind musician on the road. The 'Back To Current River' c.d. was a new experience for Michael, for not only did he write and produce the songs, but all instruments were played by him except the dobro. He played lead and rhythm guitar, banjo, harmonica, percussive instruments, along with lead and harmony vocals. It was an emotional project as well, for some tunes, such as the track '55 Chevy', went as far back as thirty four years. The songs were about friends and family members, and experiences shared with them in the beautiful Ozark mountains. To learn more about Michael McIntire visit his web site at blind-cat.com.
