Night in Gins Hollow
Michael John Serpe (Sir-P), born second son to Arnold & Lucille for faith in the family name..... I'm a singer/ songwriter & also owner/ operator of Home Recorded Culture. Founded in 1994 after intern stints at both SUB POP & C/Z records. HRC is not a label, it is a musician & artist toolbox. Fully equipped with a bare-bones recording studio & a screen-print shop. I'd say the album's about living too hard, being too serious & how that's no fun. It's about diving into a bottle of gin to toast the ghosts that chase you through your head & how that's no fun. It's about biology, lineage & heritage... It's about the things that make us yearn to burn brighter than the sun & the things that remind us of how human we really are. It's about going home & it's about meeting your father..... It's all these things, written as cryptically as possible because really I'm a music fan more than I am a musician & if their is one thing I've learned it's the difference between "me songs'' & "we songs''. As listeners we want to make music our own, not listen to some skinny kids head trip! As for the packaging, it folds out into a gin bottle & the bag that the CD sits in smells like gin! Of the 1000 made 8 of them have a gold imprint on the bag that gets the lucky owner 1 free HRC release... Willy Wonka style! Thanks for your time!
