Dreaming About the Past
Michael Stevens is a singer songwriter from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Originally born in Reading, he moved to Lancaster in 2002. He began playing the guitar at the age of 18. He played at a few open mics and in a few small bands in the Reading area. Stevens played for a few years, but never pursued music seriously. He did not pick up his guitar again until several years later after finishing his masters degree in education. He began writing and singing again in 2003. His early musical influences include Van Morrison, Neil Young, and Bob Marley. Recent influences include Beth Orton, Sufjan Stevens, and Jack Johnson. In 2005 Stevens began playing at coffee shops and small pubs in the Lancaster and Reading area. Playing all original tunes, Stevens has developed a following in these areas. During the summer of 2006 he recorded his first CD 'Anything I Can.' The CD was released in the Fall of 2006. His second CD 'Important' was released in the Fall of 2007.In 2008 Stevens re-recorded 10 songs from his first CD 'Anything I Can', because according to Stevens ' I made a lot of mistakes on that first CD and I sounded like I was singing under water, I learned a few things since then.' His new CD is called 'Dreamimg About The Past.' Stevens will also release a CD this summer of all new songs.
