About Michael Tague (last name rhymes with vague.) Upon The Hill Records mourns the loss of Singer Songwriter Michael Tague. Michael died Tuesday March 21, 2006 in Miami, FL from complications from cancer treatment. Michael was diagnosed with Lymphoma in November 2005. After receiving 4 rounds of chemo therapy in West Palm Beach, FL, he was transferred to Miami for a stem cell transplant. After a fifth round of chemo therapy, he developed an infection which led to his ultimate demise. He will be sorely missed. Michael was working on another recording project when he fell ill. Upon The Hill Records intends to follow through with the project, presently titled 'Finger Style.' Keep an ear out for it. ------- 'Who wrote that song?' Michael often gets this question from his audiences. 'I did,' is his usual response, to their amazement. Michael has been playing guitar and writing songs since he was 16 years old. He is an automotive technician by trade, but has kept a guitar nearby since he started playing. He races bicycles while he's not working on cars or playing guitar. Michael's musical style is a blend of bluegrass, contemporary folk and American fingerstyle. He has spent a decade or two honing his natural ability to what we can hear today. And he is still trying new things and continuing to write and learn. His song writing style has been likened to Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Jack Johnson, to name a few, but it is hard to place him in anyone else's mold. Michael has been seen in the South Florida area for eight years. He played the South Florida Folk Festival three years ago and he is a member of the Folk Alliance. After being asked several times if he had a CD, he decided to focus on recording for a while. Enlisting his sister Eileen's help, he got a few tracks down. The best tracks from those recording sessions are on this CD. He continues to write and play, and a new recording project is in the plans.
