Mid Atlantic is a four piece orchestral post-rock band hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Departing from traditional modes of the post-rock genre, Mid Atlantic infuses a dynamic blend of blues, progressive rock, metal, and classical influences to the end of crafting unique musical experiences. Virtually eliminating elements of shoe-gaze and ambient filler, Mid Atlantic constantly engages the listener with complex rhythmic and melodic arrangements with the aim of retaining a simple earthy, organic texture to the compositions. Mid Atlantic's first album, "The Great War" is a result of the band's two year fermentation of writing and performing in Calgary's burgeoning music scene. Recorded and produced by "The Summerlad's" Arran Fisher (noted work includes albums by "Lucky Sonne", "Woodpigeon", "The Ex-Boyfriends"), "The Great War" clocks in with just over an hour of emotionally compelling, beautifully crafted instrumental works. "We never set out to create a false perception of ourselves through extensive overdubs and over polished product...we would sooner have someone listen to the album, and leave thinking, "hey, I can make incredible music too, and I don't need thousands of dollars in instruments to do it" comments drummer, Joel Houston. Indeed, Mid Atlantic's "The Great War" is one of the remaining few honest albums. Financed entirely by the band members and with art hand crafted by Tokyo based artist and Graphic Designer, Sasa, "The Great War" speaks with the same astonishing clarity, emotional nuance, and firm conviction that you did, the first time you told someone that you loved them. And you meant it.
