Monday Night Jump!
Originally a pianist, Luke O'Reilly first met Guitarist Ben O'Neill at a outdoor show in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia in the Summer of 2002. After a brief introduction between the two, their paths would not cross again until a jam session several years later at a local jazz club. After a reintroduction between the two, Ben asked Luke if he would be interested in a weekly Monday gig at a local lounge called Marmont. The gig was not paying much, so the two decided to just hire a drummer, and leave the bass lines to Luke's left hand for the time being. Luke brought in drummer Frank Lester. The trio appropriated the name, The Mini Q's, taken from a guitar pedal of Ben's. The weekly gig wound up being a perfect place for them to create compositions on the spot, as well as constantly bring new cover tunes to the table. From Grant Green, to Jay-Z, to Cold Play and Curtis Mayfield. Any song became fair game for them to cover. The gig also offered the opportunity for the trio to invite their many musician friends to come and sit in as well. This regular gig at Marmont wound up leading to a 3 year stint, as well as a strong following and enough material for their December 2007 Release 'Monday Night Jump'. With their new album, Luke & Ben plan to get the Mini Q's on the road, and to get a CD in the hands of anyone and everyone that would appreciate good music.
