Mountains of Mendoza
Miriam Allen spent two years travelling throughout Latin America holding live performances at venues such as the notorious communist-run 'Casa de La Cultura' in Cuba, was a profiteering street musician in the 'Plaza Francia' in Argentina, and even held a live radio broadcast on 'Radio Publico' in the mountainous region of Huila, Colombia. Though performing mostly in the Carolinas these days, the musician still prefers adventurous gigs to profitable ones. While sharing her own down-home South Carolinian-Americana style with the Latin public, she performed with professional Latin musicians and absorbed a lot of sounds from around the Western Hemisphere. THE MOUNTAINS OF MENDOZA is somewhat of a travel log as most songs came out of an emotion or experience from this time period. The record is somewhat 'folkier' than the newest CD, LA CAPITANA. However, for singers and listeners who hold lyrics in high regard, THE MOUNTAINS OF MENDOZA holds it's own as an intelligent lyrical experience.
