The Mission Dolores Basilica Choir is the resident choir of the Mission San Francisco de Asis, one of the twenty one California missions established in the 18th century. Conducted by Music Director Jerome Lenk, the choir is a dedicated, volunteer group of around 30 mixed voices, which provides musical support for the liturgical life of the Mission Dolores Parish community. In addition to singing for regular weekend liturgies, the choir performs critically acclaimed annual Christmas concerts, as well as a Spring Musical Cabaret. The music they perform covers the gamut of musical styles from Renaissance and Classical music to gospel music and spirituals. The Mission Dolores Basilica Choir has received international acclaim, having performed tours of Italy and Mexico. They have been the featured choir at liturgies at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, as well as at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The Choir can be heard on several CD recordings that showcase the range and artistry of the group. A new recording of their recent Mexico tour repertoire will be released Christmas 2005.
