Beatbox metafiction marks the first solo release by Bay Area Hip-Hop legend and MTV Real World cast member, Mohammed. Long before MTV, there was Midnight Voices, Mohammed's award-winning, live-instrumentation Hip-Hop band, which recorded three albums, signed a deal with Epic records, and shared the stage with the likes of Santana, Public Enemy, Hiero, Ohio Players, Michael Franti, Gangstar, Charlie Hunter, Fishbone, and Ben Harper. On this album, we find Mohammed's honest, witty, inspired lyrics weaving and blossoming between outrageously gorgeous, lush beats. He takes us on a journey -- infusing world rhythms and cadences, raw thoughts and sounds -- creating a Hip-Hop that utterly new and fresh-- free of hyperbole, misogyny, and meaningless braggadocio. The album's overriding themes are love and light: love of self and light for others. Mohammed explores marriage, fatherhood, mortgage, and sexuality-you've never heard anything as rhythmically pure, as genuinely bewitching as beatbox metafiction.
