Morning Star In June of 2000, lead guitarist and vocalist, Nick Rabens (St. Paul, MN) and rhythm guitarist, Konstantin Konoplev (St. Petersburg, Russia) combined their song ideas and began what they thought would be a two song ('Rise/'Just a Dream') project. Later that year, bass guitarist, Paul 'Groove Commander' Kammeyer ('KGB', 'Zion Tribe', 'Green', St. Paul, MN), and drummer / percussionist, Jeff Rogers (Al Rapone, Lamont Cranston, Paul Mayasich, St. Paul, MN) joined them to form 'Morning Star'. The collaboration snowballed into the recently released, ten - song, self - produced debut album. In a gutsy attempt to address a broader and more experienced audience, 'Morning Star', backboned by a 70's psychedelic guitar sound, combines different genres of music ranging from syncopated reggae rhythms ('Rise', 'First Snow') and mind - bending soundscapes ('Sea of Tranquility', 'Ribice') to good ole rock n' roll ('Just a Dream', '110') and groove steady funk ('The Way it Goes', 'Electric Sunset'). The result is an eclectic collection of short, three to five minutes tunes with a distinctive, almost pagan feel. Independent and self-produced, 'Morning Star' was recorded and mixed at the legendary Master Mix studios in Minneapolis by Colin McArdell. 'Morning Star' would like to give special thanks to Kelly Gray and Galina Gabrielle.
