Formed in Southern Connecticut in 2003, Morningside is quickly developing a reputation as the area's premier team of acoustic songwriters. Blending influences ranging from traditional folk to modern independent rock produces a unique assembly of sounds and styles. Crafting a sound with guitars, banjo, double bass, mandolin and accordion, Morningside could easily be labeled as a roots Americana act, but their songs remain uniquely fresh and original. Morningside at once calls to mind the folk revolution of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Byrds, while at the same time showing the influence of contemporaries like Wilco, Lucinda Williams and the Jayhawks. This fusion of old and new, traditional and modern, familiar and unique sets Morningside apart.
