State Your Intention
Formed in early 2000 in Seattle, Washington, Mother aspires to bring the elements of social awareness and unabashed optimism into the arena of popular rock music. They have assigned themselves a difficult task: couching both a positive outlook and the acknowledgement of social problems within songs that are pleasing to the ear, while maintaining a careful poetic sensibility in the lyrics. Compositionally, Mother songs range from up-tempo anthem rock ('This View of Life') to spatial guitar elegy ('Something is Amiss') to dynamic martyr pop ('Shattered'). Featuring the energetic and technical drumming of Josh Zampino, the enthusiastic vocal talents and stoic bass playing of Tim Macauley, and the guitar artistry of Jon Grout, Mother hope to create, through their music, an affirmative, welcoming space where listeners of all kinds can come together, enjoy thoughtful and exciting art, and encounter ideas, problems, and each other. Mother's music has permeated to new forms of media, and is featured or has competed on RollingStone.com, Farmclub.com, Streetlabs.com, IUMA.com and Garageband.com. Mother has a strong commitment to delivering consistent, satisfying live performances. They have frequented Seattle's club scene, performing in a number of venues, such as Graceland, The Rainbow, The Vogue, The Central and The Ballard Firehouse. Their recent performance at the KISW Miss Rock show was before an estimated 250 people.
