Mr Slate's 2nd release Blood Groove marks the band's first full-length endeavor. The album includes eight previously unreleased tracks augmented by three of the bands oldest songs The Tightening, El Presidente and The Lion, The Witch and Myself which were revamped for the new project. On a whole, Blood Groove represents a more sophisticated approach to song craft than the band's first release American Star. The songs are generally longer being more robust structurally yet maintain the accessibility that Mr Slate has become known for. The album was designed to feel like an old Led Zeppelin album in that a 5 or 6 minute song feels more like a 3 or 4 minute song. They just simply keep your attention that well.
