Born in Chicago, Illinois to Willie and Emma McGee. Najuma now resides in Morrow, Ga with husband Barake Mulefu, and accomplished cultural drummer and producer, who nutures her dreams .Najuma entered the school talent show, where she and her sisters sang Chaka Khan's 'Hollywood'. They stole the show hands down! AN UPCOMING SINGER WITH HER OWN UNIQUE STYLE was how she was featured in the community newspaper. Envisioning her singing career, she studied under the tutelage of Muriel Rance, in her downtown Chicago studio. In December of 89' Najuma moved to Atlanta with her children for a change, where she became a member of the 'Shrine of the Black Madonna' for six years as one of their lead singers, there is were she discovered in her soul true down home gospel. She was given the name Najuma Wambui Chinyere (she who abounds in joy/singer of songs/God is the giver'). Najuma shines as the entertainment Queen! She is inspired by and crossed experiences with divas like Phylis Hyman, Minnie Ripperton, Whitney Houston and songbird Nancy Wilson. Najuma is the dimension of TALENT of ages long ago...Of the new-age-of far away-age; destined for the international stage. Her repertoire spans the scenes of the theater: jazz, reggae, gospel, inspirational, neo-soul and African culture. From Ballethnic Dance Company presenting Epiphany and Epiphany II (jazz, gospel ballet) she featured as lead vocalist, performed at the Atlanta Jazz Festival where she opened for Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cassandra Wilson, to the Coca Cola Roxy Theater, 'National Black Arts Festival 2000', The Soweta Street Beat Theater in Atlanta, the Natural Hair Show featuring Regina Bell. She also performed at the Sunset Jazz Festival with Sonny Emory (drummer for earth, Wind & Fire), the Soulfood Museum, Auburn Festival, Underground Atlanta and the Royal Peacock . She comes with a long list of well-known venues, festivals, concerts, clubs, theaters, centers, restaurants; fashion shows like the Latimere' Productions Company in Chicago, Il (Darryl McGee late twin brother), Wilbourn Exculsive Designs; and the internet show The Guest House Live.
