Influenced by Pete Yorn, Josh Rouse, Bebo Norman and Derek Webb, Nathan's music is a mix of acoustic rock with folk overtones appealing to a varied audience. "It's cool to see that young kids will attend a show and later hear their parents are eager to buy a CD for themselves. My music seems to be reaching many different groups. His ability to communicate effectively with the young and the not so young alike is remarkable. Recently, Nathan confided what is behind a few of his songs. "The song, 'I'm Alright' speaks of community. We often spend so much time thinking of ourselves that we fail to see those around us who are hurting. Maybe they aren't alright after all. Continuing, he mentions the song "I've Got You". "The listener takes a peak into my inner being. Nothing in life matters beyond my relationship with Christ." The catchy "Fly" is an ethereal journey into the seemingly unreachable parts of the human heart. The heart longs to be free - without restrictions. This song captures that emotion and takes the listener on a journey to a Higher place. So, what makes Nathan Shaver different from other singer/songwriters? It's his honesty on and off stage and his sincere care for people. "Besides striving to give the listener something fresh and new musically, I just want to speak the truth into the lives of people I meet.
