Are We Here Yet?
Natural Toy is an upbeat, fun, quirky band from Boston, MA. Formed by Jeff Kauppi in 1995, the band has a well-crafted infectious sound. Jeff started playing rock and roll in Boston, MA in the early '90s. His first band, The Idea, gigged the local clubs and recorded a demo in Atlanta, GA with Jeff Sullivan (of Drivin'n'Cryin') playing drums and producing. As all bands do, The Idea ran out of ...ideas? So, Jeff went back into the studio with his friend, Devon Glenn (former drummer with Buckcherry), and recorded another demo. He then set out to put together a new band, which became Natural Toy. The name coming from a little homemade ditty the guitarist Jim was singing one night after practice. 'That would be a good name for the band,' observed Jeff. Natural Toy released Katzenjammer, a five song CD, in 1997. Two songs from the CD (Just Like A Fool and Somebody) were used in the independent film, A Week In Winter, and MTV licensed the EP to use in the program Undressed. Jeff took some time away from the band to play his songs acoustically in the subways of Boston, and the unplugged venues of the Northeast. Missing the energy of a full band, Are We Here Yet? is a return to the full Natural Toy sound. Recorded last year in the studio of producer Jehu Goder, the album captures a fun and irreverent attitude that stands out in today's gloomy musical landscape...'Pop Rock with Smirk!'
