Product Notes

Once upon a midnight dreary--well, it actually was more like nine or ten o'clock and fairly clear- a high school junior by the name of Nick Curcio had his heart torn from his chest, brutally beaten and battered, and tossed on the floor by a girl whose name shall be spoken nevermore (but which sounds a little bit like Lenore). Little did he know, this faceless purveyor of evil was to be the inspiration for a musical career to span a lifetime. For a week or two, he was lost, confused, heartbroken and without any safety net to fall back on. Soon enough, however, clinging closely to his newfound love for music in the vein of Dashboard Confessional, he set to work, locked deep inside his chamber dorm room in a New Hampshire boarding school. While he pondered, weak and weary, he churned out myriad songs over the next year and a half, wrought highly with emotion, but influenced enough by such pop artists as John Mayer and Dave Matthews to be catchy at the same time. He fought off despair and hopelessness constantly. Heartened by the hope of success and someday finding eternal bliss again, he put himself on the line and started performing his music. It was well received both in the school community and outside. He even began to trust girls again, and they loved him for it! Soon enough, (almost) everything was right. Excited by the prospect of a new album, he played shows constantly and even had a small photo shoot, during which "The Picture" was taken. This picture would later be used on the back of his self-produced, debut album Fall So Far. This album was, in the words of Edgar Allen Poe himself, "caught from some unhappy master, whom unmerciful disaster / followed fast and followed faster, till his songs one burden bore." After it's release, he played the songs time and again. And so, he said firmly to the pains of his loss, "Leave my loneliness unbroken! -- quit the bust above my door! / Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!" ...or maybe Poe said that. Either way, he writes and produces all his own songs, and hopes that each time you feel that pang of loneliness or heartbreak, you can find solace in his artistic creation.
