Product Notes

Through rich soundscapes and thoughtful solos, composer and keyboardist Nick Farr takes you to farther realms of his creative imagination. Relax and enjoy both the excitement and the solace with twelve new compositions on Nick Farr's new recording Farther. This album attained the position of #1 on the New Age Voice Top 100 for November 2000 for worldwide airplay. Nick Farr began his musical journey at the age of five with classical piano training. He has always been intrigued with all types of music, especially jazz and contemporary instrumental. Today, he has found a genre of musical writing in which he is most comfortable-a unique style of composition built around piano yet focused on memorable melodies and harmonies built with strings, horns and percussion. As a published writer of prose and poetry, he has had numerous short stories published in both regional and national magazines. He has written several books for children, a fictional novel and compiled hundreds of poems. His interests, besides those of the arts, involve outdoor sporting and spending time on his farm. Nick's musical accomplishments have been well documented through trade magazines such as New Age Voice. In this periodical, his four recordings have charted in Top 20s for radio airplay worldwide for 38 months straight. His CD Farther debuted on the Top 100 Airwaves chart at #3 for October 2000, moved up to the prestigious #1 position for November and held on to the #5 spot for December. The last solo pianist to hit the #1 spot was nearly two years prior. Consequently, the recording stayed in the Top 40 for six months. Keep Moving ranked #3 on the NAR Top 100 for July 2004 and remains in heavy airplay worldwide. This recording also ranked #20 on the NAR Top 100 Airplay Chart for 2004. As Riverboy Records and Winter Water Publishing strive to bring you quality recordings of contemporary instrumental and light jazz music, we look forward to hearing from you! REVIEWS Farther is terrific-your best release yet. . . 'Summer Storm' is especially electrifying. And 'Banjo Baby' was a stroke of genius. I found the whole CD compelling. Rick O'Dell - WNUA Chicago CONGRATULATIONS on your success!!! You really deserved this, and your music is being very appreciated all over the world including Romania!! Your fan, Sergiu - Radio Arad - 'Ambiental Universe' Farther very much deserves to be at # 1. You are a very talented pianist with a sense of caring and humor as shown in your CD titles and in your compositions. I consider your music as a breath of fresh air during my sometimes too techno sounding programs. New Age... I'm not certain that this really classifies your sound, but I would be at a severe loss without music such as yours... Thanks for the moving music. Flying Man - WAWL Chattanooga, TN I've always loved solo piano and Nick Farr's interpretations are clean and diverse without being stereotypical or formulaic. I'm really impressed with the instrumentation and arrangements on Farther--they really add to the piano...Based on the two CDs of Nick's that I've heard, I am impressed by the breadth of the arrangements and stylings that I've heard on Farther and Fahrenheit. When considering strictly solo piano, I'd describe him as in the category of David Lanz and Liz Story (both big, in my book), but on Farther, he's taken it to another level that is unmatched in my experience. Jamey Osbourne - KTEP El Paso, TX I'll be featuring Nick Farr's Farther on this week's program. It's great. I was under a bit of stress to put this program together and had only one evening to do so. When I popped this CD in the player and started to listen, it was instant release. By the time the CD had ended and I had picked the tracks I wanted to feature, I felt so much better. I'll be using tracks #1, #5, #6, #8 and #9. Thanks so much for the music. I'll be looking forward to anything you record in the future. Louise - WUOT 'New Morning Music' Really great! There is life in the music. They don't just play. There's movement and feeling all through each track. Dave Butler - WRNB - 'InnerVisions' Berea, KY I love the new Nick Farr release Farther! Karen Rakos - KEUL Glacier City Radio Girdwood, AK Wonderful disc . . . it will begin airing on the show in November. BEAR - WWSP - 'New Age Sampler' You make wonderful music!! I will place you on a high place in this month poll. Tim van Veen - SLOR - 'Soon. . .Comes the Night' - The Netherlands It has been a pleasure to promote Farther, just as it was to promote your last disc. I've enjoyed them both immensely. Joe Stevenson - WYBF - 'The Pit' __ 2002 December Farther track 'Banjo Baby' featured as theme music for television show 'The Outdoor Sportsman'. November Old River, New Water tracks featured in the film 'Colors of Autumn'. ----- 2001 May Farther gets reviewed by NAV's First Spins March Farther ranks #37 on NAV Top 100 (six months in the Top 40) February Farther moves to the #28 spot on NAV Top 100 Farther used to demonstrate the new Macintosh software iTunes on television show 'Technology Tips' January Farther holds in the New Age Voice (NAV) magazine's Top 100 at #7 ----- 2000 December Farther stays at the top at #5 Farther appears on KTEP, Album of the Year list November Farther moves to the #1 spot on NAV Top 100 October Farther debuts at #3 on NAV Top 100.
