About Nick Metcalf Birth Date: June 7, 1978 Birth Place: Coos Bay, Oregon Marital Status: Happily Married Number of Instruments owned: Over 100 Number of Children: One in the oven! (unless you count pets too, then 4 Gecko's, one baby turtle, and about 30 fish) Favorite Bible Text: James 1:27 Mission in Life: To lead God's people to worship Him and to help make the world a better place by proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom of God! Nick believes very strongly that one person can make a difference in the world, and that we should each strive to be the difference that this world needs. Everyone should know that they have a vision and a mission in life, that they were put here for a purpose, and to find their cause and embrace their destiny. Christians have long been known for hypocrisy, religiosity, exclusivity, intolerance, persecution, and a host of other distortions of what we are supposed to be. This needs to stop now. We need to be the kind of Christians that make those around us happy, loved, and cared for; the kind of Christians that understand that God is not an angry God, but He is first and foremost LOVE. We, as His children need to reflect that love to the rest of the world. Never should a Christian judge those around them and beat them over the head with doctrine and their need for lifestyle change. This sort of evangelism will not work anymore (not that it ever did). We must befriend the lost, be an example of joy, peace, love, and gentleness and all those spiritual fruity things. We must be the salt of the earth and add flavor to it, make life fun, life passionately and with reckless abandon. This is our call and our mission! This is spreading the gospel of the Kingdom! And this is the philosophy behind the 'Change Your World' Project. Nick has been in and around music all his life. He was only 3 years old when he sang on his first album for Chapel records. He spent many of his formative years travelling the country with his father's band going from church to church. Nick started playing guitar at age 12, and a few years later immersed himself into the wonderful world of Irish music. He played Irish Flutes and whistles and percussion with an Irish band called Kith and Kin in the late 90's. In 2001 he gave his life to God and dedicated his musical talents to His service. Since that time he has led worship in countless churches and around the world as well as played with various bands. He has a degree in Theology from Pacific Union College. In August of 2003 he married his beautiful wife Melissa and they are now expecting their first daughter to come in September of this year! Nick Currently works as a worship Pastor for two churches (yes it is possible... one meets on Saturday and the other one meets on Sunday).
