NIKO: Expect the Unexpected On the intro of his independently released first album Streets Expectations Niko says it best, "I know the streets been waiting,so this is the streets expectations." The young mc more than surpasses the streets expectations though. His flow is ferocious and his words are conscious providing the listener with something to move to and think about all at once. The 21 yr old mc gives you fire all the while sending a musical chill up your spine. Niko grew up in a suburban southern California neighborhood running behind his older brother. Tragedy struck with the loss of his older brother at a young age. It was his brothers' friends that would take Niko under their watch. Niko began to do what the neighborhood did and the neighborhood did music. At the age of ten Niko was already a formidable mc. He would hone those skills at parties, on the school yard, and in the vocal booth. One person that took notice of these skills was local music producer Cire Maximus. " Niko was my little brother. I would give him beats to write to and practice over. One day I realized he didn't need to practice no more. We needed to do this for real." says Cire. The two started recording songs all the time and pretty soon people knew about Niko's skills, but they didn't know it was like this. Streets Expectations is an album that crosses color lines and territorial boundaries. It's plain and simple good hip hop music. Niko displays a passionate mc in notable tracks such as "The Intro: Streets Expectations", "My City", and "Bubble Man" while staying faithful to home on tracks "I.E. Next Up" and "Thiz iz Where itz At". Niko also did something that is basically unheard of now and days and wrote every word that he spits. The album is a party and a look at west coast life through some fresh eyes. Trust, you gonna like what you see. A west coast mc that writes his own sh@! and it's good too. A lot of people wouldn't expect it, but with this young rising hip hop artist expect the unexpected.
