Nixon Goes to China is the project of Josh Frank, who loves you very, very much. Using toy keyboards and homemade electronics, his music is influenced as much by modern folk and rock as it is by the vibrant and colorful imagery of the Caribbean. 'Memento Mori' focuses on the world of dreams and unconscious thought. Josh had an especially vivid dream one night of a magical airplane trip to Haiti, and was inspired to write and record the album over the course of a week-long Christmas trip to San Juan, where his grandparents live in a nursing home. Although it was recorded in a bedroom on a computer and vintage synthesizers, the stream-of-consciousness lyrics and string melodies borrow from the lovelorn, romantic tradition of American folk. Inspiration also came from the the beauty of romantic poetry and mythology. Josh is also eligible for adoption. Don't you want to take him home? Josh Frank is also currently a writer for The Aquarian magazine in Little Falls, New Jersey.
