Everything You Asked for
SKRATCH MAGAZINE: #72, 2002 This 12-song release from the Orange County-based trio is a sizzling jazz/punk exercise that will keep even the most jaded fan on edge. Their music is a startling combination of quick moshes, uptempo breaks, and unexpected tempos. On tunes such as 'Beautiful Day' the soft melodic guitar riff lures the listener in for about 30 seconds before pounding them over the head with hard-rocking funk. There is plenty of political material on this album, as well as some hardcore punk, and even a surf song. The Nixon Years is easily one of the most creative bands on the Southern Californian scene today. Catch their music now before a major label gets a hold of them and tells them they can't do anything they want. Sometimes naiveté is bliss.
