Jack Tales Vol. 2
Octavia Sexton is a folk artist, teaching artist, storyteller, and educator. A native of Eastern Kentucky, she grew up hearing folk tales, ghost 'haint' tales, Jack tales and Cherokee legends. She attended a one-room elementary school; has a BA in history education; MS in health education; and is an ordained minister of religion. She is recognized as a Kentucky folk artist in the oral tradition and she presents storytelling concerts; educational programs; professional development workshops and performs as the historical pioneer, Jenny Wiley. Her professional affiliations include the Kentucky Arts Council, KY Storytelling Association, KY Writers Coalition, National Storytelling Network, and the Southern Arts Federation. Her natural dialect will transport you into the mountains of Appalachia where 'haints' chill your blood, Jack tickles your funny bone, and the hills and hollers' are full of surprises.
