Soulful, yet hard-edged, 'Ember' contains 13 brilliantly crafted tracks, written and produced by independent British song writers, Joe Holweger, Will Lawton and Neil Muttock. This long-standing collaboration was started in 2000, when Orangutan released their debut EP 'Surprised Coconut'. 'Ember' merges a traditional line-up of piano, guitars and drums with vintage instruments like Wurlitzer, vibraphone and even a Jupiter 8 on 'Red 7'. Rugged tracks 'Two Lovers' and 'Wilderness' are perfectly balanced with the folk inspired, acoustic tones of 'Sooner' and 'Transmogrification' with some wonderful contributions on cello from Bethany Porter. The album was recorded using real instruments at Alpha Studios in the Mendip Hills, Somerset. It was self-funded and took four years to complete. 'Ember' is subtitled "the remains of a past emotion" and captures the spirit of the writers. Honest, solid music.
