Pete is a native of Newcastle-Upon Tyne in the North East of England, birthplace of Sting and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. In the 1980's Pete, although primarily a guitarist, was half of a synthesizer pop duo (Sophie & Peter Johnston)with his sister Sophie . They won two successive record contracts after DJ John Peel enthused about their music saying hearing it meant as much to him as the first time he heard Little Richard. The second of the two deals, with I-Major/WEA, resulted in the release of 3 singles and an album which garnered much critical praise. Pete carried on his involvement with music through the 1990's both as a writer/sound engineer/producer for other artists and as a sometime performer in his own right. He now runs a small home-based recording studio where the album 'Hide Away' was made. Pete's musical influences are many and diverse but some key ones are: The Beatles, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, John Martyn, Van Morrison & Pat Metheny.
