Praying Hands hails from Los Angeles and is chiefed by singer/songwriter Kevin Roentgen (pronounced Rent-gen). Recently marking his first solo effort with the completion of the Praying Hands EP, Roentgen is previously known for fronting prominent L.A. rock bands American Pearl (Wind-Up Records) and SOUL (Elektra Records). Praying Hands allows Roentgen to mesh acoustic guitars with his passionate and reflective lyrics about love, loss and redemption, to create a more stripped down and intimate sound that he can now call his own. After much time spent successfully touring the U.S., Canada and Japan from 1999-2002 and the eventual break-up of American Pearl, Kevin spent most of 2003 in the studio writing and demo-ing new songs. Working side by side with drummer and production/recording partner Noah Shain in their Silverlake/Thai Town recording studio, the two self-produced what would become the 5-song Praying Hands EP. Though Roentgen has recently begun a string of solo gigs, wielding only an acoustic guitar and bringing an even more intimate dynamic to his songs, he's considering these shows as only a precursor to further recording and performing live with the full band. 'I've been really used to playing in a band, but right now I'm especially loving the opportunity to step out on a stage with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone and completely expose myself', says Roentgen. 'I think some people that are familiar with me are expecting me to come out on stage screamin, with an SG blaring through a Marshall.. and who knows.. someday I might.. but for today this is what I feel I'm doing best.. and for today, this is the music I'm most proud of.'
