Product Notes

Described as a project of Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain's new collaboration with Jam Master Jay, The Psychotropics are Shaun Hartman (guitar, vocals), Rob Beckwith (bass, vocals) and John Sehika (drums, vocals). The band alludes to a mixture of influences along the way including Elvis, speed, Leadbelly, oxycotin, the Beastie Boys, LSD, Johnny Cash, depression, Metallica, Lawrence Welk and Sugar in the Raw. Their self-titled debut CD is a capable introduction full of emotionally raw guitars and expressive rhythms that sculpt a sound unrestrained and artistically captivating. The band has endured many spiritual and physical struggles on their respective journeys and the songs with their innovative and thought provoking lyrics help tell the stories. The composition showcases nine songs adequately mixed and produced with the help of Reggie McClellan at Doghouse recording studios in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Psychotropics are full of budding promise and refreshing childlike energy. They are intent on preserving their artistic integrity rather than strolling along the road to mainstream success. While some bands strive to be infamous, the Psychotropics play to be heard and felt. Their raw energy and enthusiasm is contagious and passionately embraced.
