Leaving Static-X, just before the release of Wisconsin Death Trip, his creativity was used for writing songs on their sophomore release Machine as well. Puffer began in 2003, when Portland's heaviest drummer, Chad Rogers called John for some jam sessions. With the addition of Doug Rollins, and bass man, Adam Vandecoevering, the band has stormed upon Portland with more saturation than the regions annual rainfall.
