The mixture of noise and silence is not a new invention. However, the trick still works, and Racetrack Babies are well aware of that. The trio, which consist of Hans Christian Wayne, Cecilie Ravik, and Martin Bjerregaard (known from Sune Wagner's old band Psyched Up Janis), is absolutely capable of combining heavy walls of guitars with pop sensibility. The best track is 'Unprepared', which easily could have sat on a Dinosaur Jr. album. In particular, Hans Christian Wayne's vocal is reminiscent of J. Mascis, which is both good and bad. His fragile, insisting voice is lifted by Ravik's light backing vocal, when necessary. Racetrack Babies got everything under control, and The End deserves a lot more attention than their debut from 2002. Gaffa Magazine, Denmark.
