Isle Say/ A Maui Collaboration
Ray Gooliak showcases his songwriting, performing and producing skills while featuring over 40 of Maui's finest musicians. The project took 2 & one half years to record/ complete and includes 4 different styles of music: Rock, Smooth Jazz, R&B and Tropical. The work also offers some command performances from the likes of keyboard virtuosos Gene Argel, Sal Godinez and Brian Cuomo. Premier vocalists Kelly Covington, Damon Williams (16 years old @ time of recording) & Bobby Ingram, among others, deliver disting- uished performances as well. Other major contributors include the exceptional sax/horn/flute player John Zangrando, drummer Paul Marchetti, bassists Lenny Castellanos & Marcus Johnson and guitarists Sam Ahia, Shiro Mori and Bob Bangerter. The project was recorded digitally at Tom Hall's Melody Line Studio in Pukalani, Maui, Hawaii. Tom is not only a great engineer (patient), but a fine guitarist as well predominantly featured on the selection 'Tsunami Kickback'. Along with the mindboggling talent of violinist I'd Thompson, they smolder their way through 5 minutes of high-energy musicality. This remarkable production effort is considered the definitive work showcasing a collaboration of Maui's great musical talents with Ray's diverse compositions.
