The Real Killers derived their group name from the old adage 'the pen is mightier than the sword'. They use their voices to personify pistols, firing lyrics that ring true. Depicting the violence that plagues our youth today...and yes, the truth does hurt and yes, the truth does kill. The Real Killers group was formed at a local high school, only 10 minutes from the Rock Hall of Fame. At Lincoln West High School, in Cleveland, Ohio, this trio combined their talents for writing lyrics and composing music. Most, if not all of their writing sessions took place in the school's cafeteria. Melvin Rojas, Andres Ramirez, and David Ortiz, over a period of four years, managed to compose twenty original songs. A December 2, 2000 performance, at a local Latin club, was so well received that the trio has performed regularly for the past three months. Now the group turned to Triumph Recording to help take their dream one step further and record a Latin Rap CD. For Melvin, born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Andres, born in Brooklyn, New York and David, born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, this is their way of killing the violence.
