Built to Last
In the mid 50's & late 60's, there was a movement of people who weren't afraid to go against the grain, challenge authority and start a revolution. People like: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The MC5, The Stones, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, The Stooges, Abby Hoffman...etc. This continued in the '70's, albeit in weaker form until the punk movement happened...and...quickly faded back into the underground. Taking these lessons and examples from those who came before, RED CAVALIER aims to be the Rock n' Roll band YOU love and your parents can't stand! Or, the band the Free Radicals/Free Thinkers love and the Establishment wish would just go away! The Red Cavalier sound is comprised of simply four friends with seemingly different musical backgrounds but the same central vision, with each one bringing something different to the table. Jay Smalls with his deep rooted Punk Rock upbringing and affinity for Jazz, Rockabilly and 60's pop, psychedelia and Soul. Albert Medina's love for 60's & 70's rock giants like Rush, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix and Black Sabbath, a John Coltrane originality with a punk twist and undeniable James Jamerson-style Motown groove. Joe Kings who carries a huge interest in 50's Rock N Roll, late 60's/early 70's hard rock and pre-punk, Chuck Berry and Link Wray-style abandonment, Scandanavian rock bands and late 70's punk rock and glam. And, Raudel Solis, our resident Metalhead, who can find a Double-Bass Drum pattern to fit a Beatles Song! Nevertheless, Raudel doesn't limit himself to just that, his John Bonham drumming and affection for punk rock, 70's Hard Rock and comfort in playing in any style completes this well-rounded musician (who can also play a mean guitar, too!). All that plus some Chicano Rock n' Roll (Thee Midnighters, Malo, Los Lobos, Ritchie Valens...etc) and there you have RED CAVALIER, a band who simply wants to make Kick-Ass Rock n' Roll for Kick-Ass people!!!
